Family Therapy
I work with families including parents, adult children, siblings and extended family members to sift through estrangement, contentious topics and the relational impacts of trauma. While I do not work with children under 18, I am happy to provide referrals for family therapy with young children.
Family therapy can strengthen relationships by bringing awareness to patterns of conflict, and bringing to light new strategies of accessing vulnerability as a path to connection.
My work with families facilitates difficult conversations with a goal of creating a space where each family member feels supported and heard. I assist families in understanding their own dynamics, family rules, and networks of alliance.
I work with families, actively teach listening skills, and assisting each individual in seeing new perspectives, exploring their internal experience of conflict and learning to communicate this experience in a manner that fosters empathy and connection.
This can lead to renewed closeness. Alternatively, family therapy can allow family members to better see each other, and understand their differences; this in itself can be healing.
